In addition to our traditional chiropractic treatment, we utilize many other modalities to help restore function through hands-on care. These modalities help decrease pain, return strength and increase range of motion. This allows a return to an active and unrestricted life full of purpose and freedom from pain. A few of the modalities we utilize in our clinic include:

  • Ultrasound
  • Electrical Muscle Stimulation
  • Mechanical and Manual Traction
  • Deep Tissue Laser Therapy

These modalities are an added benefit to our body as education of physical awareness that will help prevent future injury and promote good lifelong health.

The Ultrasound machines by utilizing high or low frequency sound waves that will penetrate deep into the targeted tissues and muscles to cause warming and relaxation effect to help relaxed muscle stiffness, spasm and minimizing scar tissue formation. Through higher frequency of sound waves, the machine promotes vessel vasodilatation (enlargement) to increase circulation and assist healing. In lower frequencies, the machine will help decrease tissue inflammation.

Electrical Muscle Stimulation

Electrical stimulation machine helps with increase muscle strength, decrease muscle spasm, and promotes blood supply to the targeted area to promote healing. This allows oxygen and nutrients to be delivered to the area for tissue healing, as well as the removal of waste products from the injured site.

Mechanical and Manual Traction

Traction involves the application of tension to a specific area in order to give a stretch to specific tissues. This helps to decrease muscle spasm, nerve pressure, and increase range of motion (mobility).

Deep Laser Therapy

What is Deep Tissue Laser Therapy and how can it help conditions such as Plantar Fasciitis, Tennis Elbow, Back/neck and wrist pain, Arthritis, and TMJ…when nothing else would?

Deep Tissue Laser Therapy™ with the LiteCure LCT-1000 is an innovative, scientifically based, therapeutic modality, specifically designed to offer advanced pain relief and expedited healing times through a process known as photobiostimulation.

The LCT-1000 works by flooding tissues with photons, energizing the damaged cells and increasing circulation to the painful area. This produces a cascade of healing responses in your body, rapidly reducing inflammation, thereby reducing or even eliminating your pain.

In fact, the LCT-1000 deep tissue laser is used by many professional sports teams to accelerate healing times for musculoskeletal injuries and keep players on the field…or on the court. Here's what the Boston Celtics have to say about the LCT-1000:

"The LCT-1000 laser therapy device has been an invaluable asset to our team. I would like to thank you and LiteCure for helping to keep our players in the game throughout our 2008 Championship season. This laser therapy device will continue to be part of the high level of care our medical staff provides our players." Edward J. Lacerte, Med., PT, SCS, L/ATC, CSC S, Head Athletic Trainer for the Boston Celtics

Treatments take anywhere from 8-15 minutes, however the therapeutic effect is long lasting. Typically, between 5-15 sessions are required to obtain optimum healing potential. Tough to treat conditions such as plantar fasciitis and TMJ are especially responsive to laser therapy.

There is no discomfort during treatment, simply a deep, gentle warmth as your body's cells respond to the laser light. There are no known side effects. It is a non-invasive therapy with long lasting benefits.

Patients with headaches, whiplash, and carpal tunnel syndrome are especially responsive to deep tissue laser therapy.

LiteCure Deep Tissue Laser Therapy can dramatically reduce the pain associated with the following

Low Back and Neck Strain
Bulging, Fused or Slipped Discs
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS)
Epicondylitis (Tennis Elbow)
Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMJ)
Arthritic Conditions (osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis)
Post Surgical Recovery
Headaches, including Migraine and Sinus
Sports Injuries (Pulled Hamstrings, Rotator cuff, Calves Etc.)
Plantar Fasciitis
And many more joint, muscle, circulatory and inflammatory conditions

Class IV vs. Class III Lasers

LiteCure Deep Tissue Laser Therapy can be done in conjunction with chiropractic care, masage, and nonsurgical spinal decompression with the DRX9000 and DRX9000c cervical decompression systems. Or, as a stand-alone treatment.

Laser - Massage

We also have the ability to perform Laser-Massage using the LCT-1000 Laser-Massage  head-piece developed by LiteCure's scientists. The light and tissue massage interaction produces a DEEP (Delivery Enhanced Energy Penetration) healing response as more tissues are exposed to the photonic laser energy, creating a synergistic effect for faster healing and pain relief.  We incorporate Laser-Massage into some of our Active Release Technique (ART) protocols to promote accelerated healing. This truly is state-of-the-art.

Our practice is among the first in San Francisco to invest in the LCT Deep Tissue Laser from LiteCure.
