What happens during a decompression session?

Spinal decompression machines are designed and built to treat lumbar and cervical disc bulges and herniations naturally. The machine we use is the DRX-9000. We chose the DRX-9000 because it is very comfortable for the patient. In fact, most fall asleep during treatment.

The typical spinal decompression treatment protocol is 20 one-hour sessions done over a period of 6-8 weeks.

When you arrive we ask you a few questions and may do a few quick tests to monitor your progress. Then, we fit you in a harness to connect you to the machine. This takes 5-7 minutes. Once you are on the machine the decompression session begins. This is about 30 minutes. Then, after we take you off the DRX machine we administer muscle stimulation (painless) and 10 minutes of ice.

Depending on the nature and severity of your condition we may also incorporate laser therapy, heat, massage or even chiropractic. All cases are different.

Most of our patients really look forward to the spinal decompression sessions. It is their time to relax and get well.

In the event you require more extensive treatment such as physical therapy or medical care, our primary clinic, Chiro-Medical Group is just a few short blocks away.
