Decompression Helps Sciatica

Sciatica is a symptom that results from pressure on the sciatic nerve, which is the largest nerve in the body. Typically, there is pain in the leg or legs that can be excruciating. The pain can originate in the low back and travel down the legs or be in the legs or feet only.  In less severe cases, the sciatic pain can feel like cramping or burning. There can also be numbness, tingling, and weakness. All cases are different.

The primary cause of sciatica is a herniated or bulging disc in the low back. The inflamed disc material irritates the lumbar spinal nerve roots as they exit the spine. The sciatica symptoms are then felt wherever those nerves were travel. It's not uncommon to have sciatica without any back pain.

As far as sciatica treatment goes, we need to focus on the cause. Remember, sciatica is a symptom. Since the cause of sciatica is usually a bulging or herniated disc, that is where we want to treat. Non-surgical spinal decompression is designed to treat disc herniations and bulges naturally. The machine we use is the DRX-9000. Our machine can treat the lumbar and cervical spine and costs us about $150,000.

The treatment protocol for spinal decompression therapy is 20 one-hour sessions over 6 to 8 weeks.  The cost is around $3500-$5000 depending on the nature and severity of your condition. The results are outstanding. Spinal decompression is now considered the gold standard for non-surgical treatment of lumbar and cervical disc herniations.

Disc decompression does not help everyone, but even if the DRX fails to deliver results you are still whole and can pursue other treatment options. If you have surgery first and it does not help, you may be permanently disqualified from ever trying spinal decompression.
