Decompression or Surgery?

Spinal Decompression has become the gold standard for the nonsurgical treatment of herniated and bulging discs that are unresponsive to conventional treatments such as chiropractic, medical care, physical therapy or acupuncture.

Spinal decompression machines such as the DRX-9000 are able to successfully treat disc herniations in the cervical and lumbar spine non-surgically.  This makes a lot of sense for those that do not want to have back or neck surgery. The treatment is very safe and gentle and success rates are high.

The decompression process is 20 sessions in about 6-8 weeks depending on patient response and schedules. Each session is an hour long. There is some set-up, then 30 minutes on the machine, then muscle stimulation and ice afterwards. We also include therapies such as deep tissue laser, massage, chiropractic, and physical therapy if indicated.

Our primary clinic, Chiro-Medical Group, Inc. is only a short walk away where we have medical doctors to help co-manage difficult cases.

Whether it be low back pain and sciatica, neck pain, arm pain, numbness or tingling in the arms or legs, weakness, or any of the other symptoms associated with bulging or herniated discs…decompression therapy may help.

Spinal decompression can also help with degenerative disc disease, facet syndrome, spinal stenosis, and pinched nerves.

Back or neck surgeries that involve fusion will permanently disqualify you from spinal decompression therapy. This is why many choose to try spinal decompression first. They realize they can always have surgery. Of course, not all herniated disc patients will qualify medically for disc decompression, but most will.
